Royal Bangalore Challengers Women v Mumbai Indians Women betting tip
March 21, 2023
We’ve nearly reached the end of the WPL 2023 group stage, with Mumbai Indians playing their final match of the regular season and we’re backing them to achieve a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore when the teams meet on Tuesday.
The Indians have claimed five wins in their seven games played and will feel confident of going into the playoffs with another victory. Especially as they lost their previous game against Delhi Capitals and will want a confidence booster coming into the eliminator.

Royal Challengers Bangalore claimed a victory against Gujarat Giants in their previous clash although that was only their second win in seven games and we might expect them to fall short against classier opposition.
Sophie Ecclestone has been super consistent with the ball for the Indians all season, with Hayley Matthews likely to come to the fore with the bat and we think Mumbai look a fairly solid selection.

Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians betting tips
March 6, 2023
Match 5 of the 2023 Indian Premier League season takes place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. On 2 April, we will see Royal Challengers Bangalore hosting the Mumbai Indians and the bookmakers perceive this to be an evenly-matched encounter.
It does suggest that the bookies do think that Mumbai are the slightly superior team as the away side and we think they are the most likely winners of this encounter. There are lots of positive noises coming from the camp as the players bid to return to former glories.

Let’s not forget the overall track record that the Indians have enjoyed when it comes to the Indian Premier League, with the franchise having been champions five times between 2013 and 2020. They will be very determined to bounce back after finishing bottom of the pile a year ago.
Rohit Sharma has been impressing for the Indian national team and he’s someone we can trust as captain, with Mark Boucher’s side capable of hitting the ground running against a side who finished third in last year’s IPL.
Much depends on how the Indians cope without the injured Jasprit Bumrah, with Arjun Tendulkar potentially ready to step up to the plate.
BETTING TIP: Mumbai Indians @ 1.83 with Parimatch
Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals betting tips
March 6, 2023
The Rajasthan Royals have not won an Indian Premier League title since 2008 although perhaps this is the year where they end a fifteen-year drought. The 2022 campaign was a great success, with the team landing nine victories from their fourteen games played during the regular season.
The Royals were then impressive during the playoffs. After narrowly losing to Gujarat Titans, they were able to see off Royal Challengers Bangalore before clashing once again with the Titans and they ended up finishing runners-up.

It’s possible that they will go one better this time around and there are several Rajasthan players hitting form at a good time. Riyan Parag has been particularly impressive in the Guwahati Premier League and he recently smashed 148 runs off 64 balls and that innings included 17 sixes and 6 fours.
Sunrisers will have home advantage for this IPL clash and this represents a tough assignment for a side who finished third bottom of the regular standings last time out. Six wins in fourteen games was a low win average and they haven’t recruited particularly well this time around.
BETTING TIP: Rajasthan Royals @ 1.66 with Parimatch
Lucknow Super Giants v Delhi Capitals betting tips
March 3, 2023
The Lucknow Super Giants are a relatively new Indian Premier League team although they made an assured start to life in this competition, with Andy Flower proving to be a smart Twenty20 coach who was able to steer the team into the play-offs.
The Super Giants ended up finishing fourth overall although there was plenty to like about several of their performances, with Lucknow claiming nine victories in their fourteen games played before narrowly losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the semi-finals.

Even so, they will be keen to build on this success and we’re surprised to see them trading as betting outsiders considering that they have home advantage in this clash. The team will be confident of having an edge at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Delhi Capitals are the most established Indian Premier League outfit, with this team under an Australian management by virtue of Ricky Ponting being the coach and David Warner is the captain of the side.
However, Delhi were only able to win half of their games in the regular season last time out and we think they can be opposed in this opener.
BETTING TIP: Lucknow Super Giants @ 1.88 with 4raBet
Punjab Kings v Kolkata Knight Riders betting tips
March 1, 2023
The top cricket betting sites are struggling to separate Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders when it comes to this Indian Premier League showdown, with this being the second match that takes place during the season.
The match takes place at Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium in Mohali, meaning that the Kings can count on plenty of home support and there are reasons to suggest that they will show an improvement after an erratic 2022 season.

Coach Trevor Bayliss offers a reassuring presence which could see a more consistent level of performance, with the same man coaching England to a World Cup success in 2019 and we also like the fact that Sam Curran has been added into the team.
That might give them an edge over a Kolkata team who were only able to win six of their fourteen matches in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, with the Knight Riders having gone without an IPL success for nearly ten years.

IPL 2023 Predictions
IPL 2023 Tip – Orange Cap Winner (Top Run Scorer): Shubman Gill
Other notable mentions: Jos Buttler, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli
Shubman Gill has been in fantastic form in limited overs cricket so far this year. He has already scored 567 ODI runs at an average of 113.4 which includes a massive double century. He was also the fifth leading run scorer in last year’s IPL with 483 runs at an average of 35.4. Therefore, we are backing Gill to have another fantastic IPL this year and carry on his prolific 2023 limited overs form to be this year’s leading run scorer in the IPL.
IPL 2023 Tip – Purple Cap Winner (Top Wicket Taker): Mohammed Siraj
Other notable mentions: Wanindu Hasaranga, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav
Similar to Gill, we are backing Mohammed Siraj to replicate his impressive international form in the IPL. He is a much-improved limited overs bowler, as he has added great control and skill to his bowling armoury to go with his natural pace. His economy rate is typically at around 8.7 an over but we are backing him to lower this in 2023. Meanwhile his ability to bowl at any stage of the innings will allow him to pick up wickets at regular intervals. Consequently, we are backing Siraj to be the top wicket-taker in IPL 2023.
Tournament Runner Up: Delhi Capitals
Tournament Winner: Rajasthan Royals
IPL 2023 Preview
The best cricket league in the world is back for another edition. IPL 16 will commence on April 1st and run until the 4th of Jun, including a mouth-watering 74 matches. The IPL is the bigger and better than ever. It is emphasised by the fact that after a new broadcasting deal for 2023-2027 was agreed upon following the 2022 season, the IPL is now the second most valuable sporting tournament in the world. It overtook the English Premier League and sits only behind the NFL and is valued at a massive.
IPL 2022 Recap
In only their second year in the IPL, the Gujarat Titans claimed their first ever IPL title in IPL 15. They we captained by star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya and coached by Ashish Nehra. Together they led the Titans to victory, beating Jos Buttler’s Rajasthan Royals in final by a comfortable 7 wickets. The Titans were also top of the Group Stages table, having only lost four out of their 14 matches.
Hardik Pandya and Shubman Gill were in scintillating form for the Gujarat with the bat in hand with both players playing some unbelievable match-winning innings. However, on the statistics front it was the Rajasthan Royals players who dominated. Royals and India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took the most wickets in the tournament with 27. But it was Jos Buttler who had one of the most unbelievable IPL tournaments ever. He won the Player of the Season award and was also the top run-scorer in the tournament, which included 4 centuries and 4 fifties, at an average of 57.53and a strike-rate of 149.05 and amassed 863 runs from 17 matches.
A surprising point to note in IPL 15 was that the two most successful teams in tournaments history finished in last and second-last position in the Group Stages. The Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings both finished the tournament with only four wins out of their respective 14 matches, but it was the Mumbai Indians who finished in last place due to their net run rate being worse than the Chennai Super Kings. An astonishing statistic is that the Mumbai Indians lost their first 8 matches of the tournament! It was a season to forget for these two IPL giants.
IPL 16 Format and Rule Changes
Since the 2022 edition of the IPL there have been no format changes. This will be the third year in a row that the IPL will feature 10 teams with the Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants being added back in IPL 14. Just like in IPL 15 there will 74 matches played in the tournament including a group stage and playoffs stage, where the top 4 teams of the group stage will then qualify for the playoffs, which includes two semi-finals, a preliminary final, and the final itself.
However, the BCCI have introduced a new rule change ahead of IPL 16. The new rule introduced is the Player Impact Rule where teams can take four substitute or impact players on the match-day squad apart from the eleven players playing in that particular match. The team can then use one of the four substitutes during the match in the place of any Player in the initial stating XI.
2023 Team Previews
Gujarat Titans
Previous Titles: 2022
Key Players: Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, David Miller
Overseas Players: David Miller, Matthew Wade, Alzarri Joseph, Moor Ahmad, Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, Joshua Little, Odean Smith
Predicted Finish: 4th
The reigning champions will be looking to defend the title and go back-to-back in 2023. They are coached by Ashish Nehra and captained by Hardik Pandya. Pandya was an inspirational leader in 2022 and backed it up with some amazing performances with both bat and ball.
Gujarat have had a relatively small turnover of players from the 2022 to 2023. They have lost two of their big overseas signing from 2022 as they released Englishman Jason Roy and Transferred New Zealand fast-bowler Lockie Ferguson.
However, they have added some big players to their 2023 squad including New Zealand great Kane Williamson and an in-form Irish left-arm fast-bowler Joshua Little. While Shivam Mavi was their most expensive buy at the auction.
Overall, the defending champions look in good shape, with all bases covered and good depth to their squad. However, a possible area for concern could be their top order batting, so they may be very reliant on Shubman Gill at the top of the order. We expect them to make the playoffs.
Rajasthan Royals
Previous Titles: 2008
Key Players: Jos Buttler, Sanju Sampson, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal
Overseas Players: Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Obed McCoy, Trent Boult, Jason Holder,
Donovon Ferreira, Adam Zampa, Joe Root
Predicted Finish: Winners
The runners up from IPL 2022, will be hoping to go one better this year and lift the IPL trophy for the first time since 2008 in the first ever IPL. The Royals are captained by Sanju Sampson and Sri Lanka legend, Kumar Sangakkara is their Director of Cricket.
Rajasthan Royals have had a large turnover of overseas players for the upcoming season. They have released some big international signings in Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jimmy Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, and Rassie van der Dussen. However, they have been replaced by some astute signings in the form of Aussie leg-spinner Adam Zampa, West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder, and interestingly Englishman Joe Root, who we believe will have a successful return to the IPL alongside fellow Englishman Jos Buttler.
A first-choice Royals XI looks very impressive on paper with all their bases covered. Jos Buttler is one of the best T20 players of all time and will look to replicate his amazing 2022. Sanju Sampson impresses every year. Trent Boult has the amazing ability to take early wickets and Chahal was the purple cap holder last season. A possible area for concern though will be the depth in their squad. However, we do expect them to go one step further and win IPL 16.
Lucknow Super Giants
Previous Titles: N/A
Key Players: KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Krunal Pandya, Deepak Hooda, Jaydev Unadkat
Overseas Players: Quinton de Kock, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Mark Wood, Romario Shepherd, Nicholas Pooran, Daniel Sams, Naveen ul-Haq
Predicted Finish: 5th
This will now be the Super Giants third year in the IPL, so they will now be looking to cement themselves in the tournament to win their first IPL title. They had a successful second season in IPL 2022, finishing in 3rd place. This year they are coached by Andy Flower and captained by Indian top order batsman KL Rahul. KL Rahul forms an intimidating opening partnership with South African Quinton de Kock.
In the off season the Super Giants have had a low turnover of players in the off season, however the ones that have been released are some big-name players. For example, Manish Pandey, Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Andrew Tye, Dushmanta Chameera, Shabaz Nadeem and Ankit Singh Rajpoot.
In their place the Super Giants have signed Aussie all-rounder Daniel Sams, veteran leggie Amit Mishra, and West Indian Romario Shepherd. However there big signing in the off season is West Indian T20 skipper Nicholas Pooran, while Indian left arm fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat is also a great signing – he has had a brilliant Ranji Trophy this year.
The Super Giants will be heavily reliant on their opening partnership and new signing Nicholas Pooran for their runs. In the bowling department, if fit, Mark Wood could be very successful with his pace. While Krunal Pandya will be pivotal for them in the all-rounder role. It looks a good squad but they are maybe lacking in a couple more big name Indian players or overseas signings. We expect them to just miss out on the playoffs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Previous Titles: N/A
Key Players: Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, Glenn Maxwell
Overseas Players: Faf du Plessis, Finn Allen, David Willey, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Wanindu Hasaranga, Reece Topley, Will Jacks
Predicted Finish: 6th
Could this finally be the year that Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bangalore finally lift the IPL trophy? This year RCB are coached by Sanjay Bangar and South African Faf du Plessis is expected to be captain for the second year in a row.
RCB have had a very quiet off season, retaining a very similar squad to 2022. They have released Sherfane Rutherford and traded Jason Behrendorff to the Mumbai Indians. In there place they have signed two Englishmen who have had a fantastic year in limited overs cricket. That being Will Jacks and Reece Topley.
RCB will again be hoping that Virat Kohli is able to produce this year, he has got back to scoring hundred again in international cricket and they will be hoping he can replicate in this years IPL. If they are to win the trophy, he will need a big season with the bat.
In the bowling department Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj will need to take early wickets but questions marks may remain over their death bowling stocks. Wanindu Hasaranga is a proven performer and is able to take buckets of wickets and at a low economy rate. They have a number of great overseas players, but I think they may struggle to find the right balance between them. Therefore, we do expect them not to make the playoffs.
Delhi Capitals
Previous Titles: N/A
Key Players: David Warner, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje
Overseas Players: David Warner, Rovman Powell, Mitchell Marsh, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw
Predicted Finish: Runners-up
The Delhi Capitals are also still searching for their first ever IPL title. This year they are again coached by Australian legend Ricky Ponting, but the captaincy is now up in the air after their current captain and Indian superstar Rishabh Pant was involved in a car crash and his injuries mean he is ruled out for the whole of 2023.
Delhi had a quiet off season with a small number of turnovers. Their squad and starting XI should mostly remain the same for 2023. Their leaving players did not play a big role in 2022 but some of their 2023 signings are exceptional and will add great depth to their squad. Indian bowler Mukesh Kumar was their most expensive signing at the auction while they have also added two experienced IPL and Indian players in Manish Pandey and Ishant Sharma. To top it off, Englishman Phil Salt and South African Rilee Rossouw have also come in to strengthen the batting.
Rishabh Pant will leave a big hole in this Capitals side. However, they do have two of the most in-form players in Indian cricket right now in Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan. They will be hoping for David Warner to find form and have another successful IPL season. South Africans, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje will provide pace with the ball and Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel will form an intimidating spin partnership. Even without star-man Pant, we are expecting the Capitals to make the final this year.
Punjab Kings
Previous Titles: N/A
Key Players: Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada
Overseas Players: Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, Sam Curran, Sikandar Raza
Predicted Finish: 9th
The Punjab Kings will be hoping to win their first ever IPL trophy in IPL 16. This year they are coached by Indian great Anil Kumble and veteran Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan will captain the team once again.
Punjab released a few players in the off season, most notably were Mayank Agarwal, west Indian Odean Smith, and Sandeep Sharma. However, the big news for Punjab in the off season was the signing of Englishman, Sam Curran at the auction for the largest amount ever in IPL history, that being an enormous ₹18.5. Curran is one of the best T20 players in the world right now, having just won the Player of the Tournament at recent T20 World Cup and he provides an option with both bat and ball.
Punjab will be heavily reliant on their overseas signings. In particular, the English trio of Sam Curran, Liam Livingston, and Jonny Bairstow, with the latter still recovering from a broken leg. South African quick Kagiso Rabada will also be heavily relied on with the ball. The Kings are lacking a few more Indian stars and are too reliant on their overseas signings and therefore we think they will fail to make the playoffs this year.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Previous Titles: 2012, 2014
Key Players: Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Andre Russell
Overseas Players: Rahmanullah Gurbaz, David Wiese, Lockie Ferguson, Andre Russell, Tim Southee, Sunil Narine, Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan
Predicted Finish: 10th
The Kolkata Knight Riders have not lifted the IPL trophy in 9 years, so they will be hoping to break their IPL trophy drought. They are captained by Indian star Shreyas Iyer and coached by the inspirational kiwi Brendon McCullum who has managed to turn around English Test cricket this year and redefine how Test cricket should be played.
It was a big turnover of players this year for KKR who released some big name Indian and overseas players, those being Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Aaron Finch, Sam Billings, Alex Hales, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammed Nabi, Sheldon Jackson, and Chamika Karunaratne.
In their place they have had some successful transfers with other times, signing the likes of Lockie Ferguson and Shardul Thakur. While at the auction they signed a couple of Bangladesh stars in Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan and also bought veteran all-rounder David Wiese.
With such a big turnover of players we think it is going to be a difficult season for KKR. They have let go of some big players and they will be difficult to replace. If they have any chance, they will be relying on runs from captain Iyer and wickets from Sunil Narine, as well as new recruits Lockie Ferguson and Shardul Thakur. However, we still do expect them to miss the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Previous Titles: 2016
Key Players: Washington Sundar, Bhuveneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, Harry Brook, Marco Jansen
Overseas Players: Aiden Markram, Glenn Phillips, Marco Jansen, Harry Brook, Fazalhaq Farroqi, Akeal Hossein, Adil Rashid, Heinrich Klaasen
Predicted Finish: 8th
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be hoping to add a second IPL title to their trophy cabinet in 2023. Australian Tom Moody is continuing on as coach of the Sunrisers but after releasing kiwi Kane Williamson they are now without a captain and yet to appoint his replacement.
The Sunrisers have had a big off season, as they released a large number of players and then proceeded to make some big purchases at the auction. They released the former franchise captain Kane Williamson, West Indians Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd, Australian Sean Abbott, and locals Shreyas Gopal and Vishnu Vinod, to name a few of the ‘big’ releases.
In their place the Sunrisers made one of the biggest purchases at the auction, that being the young English batsman Harry Brook, who has had a breakout season in international cricket over the last year. As well they have also signed the experienced Mayank Agarwal, South African keeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen, and spinners in Adil Rashid, Akeal Hosein, and Mayank Markande.
Overall, the Sunrisers look to be a very bowling heavy team with the likes of the promising Indian young quicks in Umran Malik and T Natarajan, as well as Bhuveneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, and Marco Jansen. In the batting department, it will be dominated by overseas players as they are lacking experienced Indian batsmen. So, their batting may be a concern this year and therefore we expect the Sunrisers to not make the playoffs this year.
Chennai Super Kings
Previous Titles: 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021
Key Players: Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu
Overseas Players: Devon Conway, Dwaine Pretorius, Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, Ben Stokes, Kyle Jamieson, Matheesha Pathirana
Predicted Finish: 7th
IPL 15 was a year to forget for CSK as they finished in second last place in the league, which is their joint lowest ever finish and, also, it was amazingly only the second every time they have failed to reach the playoffs. Kiwi Stephen Fleming is remaining as coach of CSK, while MS Dhoni is back for another year of the IPL to captain the side.
It was the end of an era at CSK as veteran West Indian all-rounder retired from CSK and the IPL. Robin Uthappa also announced his retirement from cricket at the end of the 2022 season. In addition to these retirements CSK also released two overseas bowlers in Chris Jordan and Adam Milne.
At the auction, CSK were able to pick up one of the best buys in world cricket, that being, the English talisman Ben Stokes. Alongside him they also purchased the tall kiwi fast-bowler Kyle Jamieson and Indian veteran Ajinkya Rahane to strengthen their middle order.
CSK will be reliant on their young opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad to score big and consistent runs. While Ben Stokes will surely have some match winning performances with both bat and ball in him, and the same can be said for his fellow countryman Moeen Ali. However, CSK look to be a little light in the fast-bowling department and will therefore heavily rely on Ravindra Jadeja, who is only just coming from injury. Because of their lack of fast-bowling stocks we expect them to struggle again this season and miss the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians
Previous Titles: 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2020
Key Players: Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah, Jofra Archer
Overseas Players: Dewald Brevis, Cameron Green, Jofra Archer, Jason Behredorff, Jhye Richardson, Tim David, Tristan Stubbs, Duan Jansen
Predicted Finish: 3rd
The Mumbai Indians had their worst ever season in IPL 2022 as they finished in last place. However, the leadership roles remain the same for the five-time IPL champions as Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardena continues as coach and the Indian national team captain Rohit Sharma will continue on as the MI skipper.
Mumbai had a busy off season as they released a four of their overseas players, including, Daniel Sams, Tymal Mills, Riley Meredith, and Fabian Allen. They also released some of their high-profile Indian players in Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi, Mayank Markande, and Murugan Ashwin. But their most notable omission from their 2023 squad is Mumbai Indians and IPL great Kieron Pollard who announced his retirement from the IPL at the end of IPL 2022.
The big signing for the Mumbai Indians at the auction was the purchase of young Aussie all-rounder Cameroon Green for a massive ₹17.5. This was the second most expensive in IPL history. Alongside Green they also signed fellow Aussie Jhye Richardson and South African Duan Jansen. MI also bought IPL veteran Piyush Chawla to give them an extra spin option in their squad.
Mumbai definitely now has the squad to turn things around from their poor 2022 season. With Jasprit Bumrah and Jofra Archer both back fit and firing they will create one of the deadliest bowling duos that T20 cricket ever seen. While with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tim David, Tristan Stubbs, and Dewald Brevis their batting is stacked with power. Let’s also not forget Suryakumar Yadav who is the best T20 batsman in the world at the moment. We expect Mumbai to make the playoffs this year.
