Who Are the Gujarat Titans?
The Gujarat Titans are one of the new two teams to play in the Indian Premier League in the post COVID era. They have already won the title in their first attempt while the three teams are struggling to get off the mark in the 16 years.
Gujarat Titans are owned by the CVC Capital, one of the teams to be owned by Venture Capital partners. In October 2021, CVC Capital Partners won the bid for Gujarat Titans with a bid of $700 million. A total of 22 clubs were in the bid to secure the signature of the franchise but CVC Capital Partners won the deal. They have the team anthem, Aava De sung by Adithya Gadhvi which has become quite popular in the Gujarati household.
Many Indian bettors enjoy backing the Titan’s due to the amount of success they have achieved in such a short space of time. IPL bookmakers have seen a lot of activity for this team and 2024 looks to be no exception.
The IPL History of the Gujarat Titans
Starting off just before the 2022 auction, Gujarat Titans had the chance to draft three players in the line up. They raked in the likes of Hardik Pandya, Shubhman Gill and Rashid Khan while naming Hardik Pandya as captain ahead of the mega auction. They appointed Ashish Nehra, former Indian player and coach of RCB, as their coach.
After setting up a side in the auction, Gujarat Titans went all guns blazing in the league stage and finished at the top of the league. Not only they finished there but also went on to win the title against Rajasthan Royals in the first attempt.
In the 2023 season, Gujarat Titans were close to winning the title as they had almost followed the same template of finishing first in the group stage.
Runners up in 2023
However, the fireworks by Ravindra Jadeja meant they ended the season as runners-up.
