Sydney Thunder v Brisbane Heat
Match Odds
SYDNEY THUNDER – 4/5
v
BRISBANE HEAT – 19/20
14/12/20, 08:15am (GMT), Canberra
Match Preview
Both sides suffered comprehensive defeats in their openers having gone into the tournament unfancied.
Brisbane Heat have been severely affected by dropouts of overseas players – though have just announced the signing of Joe Denly – and could only post 125 against the Stars so they will be out to prove a point and avoid their season taking a nosedive early on.
The top-heavy batting line-up of the Thunder was exposed in their only game so far and they currently look desperate for Sam Billings to complete his quarantine and bolster the order, but they showed enough to suggest they should be able to overcome the Heat this time.
Our Tips
Brisbane Heat to have the highest score after 6 overs – 1/1 @ Betway
The Thunder have a very strong opening partnership but both players can take time to get their eye in before catching up on the strike-rate later on, while Chris Lynn, despite batting three, tends to come in blazing from ball one.
If he and Max Bryant can find their range, they will be looking to go big early on to ease the pressure on a weaker lower order.
Alex Hales to hit over 0.5 sixes – 1/1 @ Bet365
This is an amazing price to jump on, with Hales’ long levers and penchant for a slog sweep making him a prime contender to clear the ropes.
He struggled in the opener but still managed to show his hitting potential and will be licking his lips at the short boundaries in Canberra while lining up the spinners.
