Match Preview
England recorded their fourth away win on the bounce last week with an impressive all-round performance led by their captain Joe Root with a magnificent double century.
Sri Lanka collapsed meekly on the opening morning before recovering and showing some fight to at least take the game into the final day, and England should expect a reaction from the hosts if the second half of the game is anything to go by.
James Anderson comes in for Stuart Broad in England’s only change but will have big boots to fill, while Kusal Mendis’ poor run with the bat has seen him dropped from the squad.
Our Tips
Jonny Bairstow to score 50+ runs in the first innings – 11/8 @ Betway
Bairstow combined with Root in the opening Test to settle England down after a worrying start, and he looked at ease against the spinning ball so will be determined to make the most of another chance in England whites and will want to improve on the 47 he made in the opening innings.
Highest first innings opening partnership Sri Lanka – 1/1 @ Bet365
While Sri Lanka’s top order was poor in the opener, they regrouped in the second innings and posted a three-figure partnership. England’s meanwhile struggled with the spin, with Dom Sibley in particular looking ill at ease.
