Perth Scorchers v Sydney Sixers
Match Odds
PERTH SCORCHERS – 4/5
v
SYDNEY SIXERS – 19/20
6/1/21, 08:15am (GMT), Perth
Match Preview
Since the arrival of Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone, the Scorchers have formed a formidable batting line-up with Josh Inglis and Mitch Marsh adding serious depth to an explosive opening duo.
Roy and Livingstone appear to have brushed off the cobwebs following their isolation period, and they will be prized victims for any bowler, but the weaknesses in the Scorchers line-up are in the bowling with only Jhye Richardson taking more than five wickets so far.
That could open the door for the Sixers, who have jumped to the top of the table and have Josh Philippe looking in dangerous form.
They have had the luxury of resting players and barring Moises Henriques, who remains with the Australia squad, should be at full strength following the inclusion of Jake Ball and return to fitness of Jackson Bird.
The Scorchers have only just climbed off the foot of the table but with back-to-back wins and a strong batting side, they could be well set to quickly climb up the table.
Our Tips
Perth Scorchers to score of 49.5 runs in the first six overs – 6/4 @ Betway
The partnership of Roy and Livingstone has shone in the last couple of games, putting on 41 and 57. Playing in Perth should particularly suit both and a flurry of runs so if they continue their good form, they could race past 50. Even if they lose an early wicket, Inglis has found form batting at three and will keep the momentum going.
Josh Philippe to score a fifty – 5/2 – @ Bet365
Philippe has largely continued where he left off last year, with scores of 41, 48, 48, 22, 6 and 95 following an opening day failure. His strong recent form, with three successive 40s, mean he is well-placed to go big against a Scorchers attack short on mystery or wicket-takers.
