Perth Scorchers v Melbourne Stars

Match Odds

16/12/20, 08:15am (GMT), Launceston

Match Preview

The two pre-tournament favourites go head-to-head on Wednesday with Melbourne Stars looking to maintain their 100% winning start in Launceston.

The Stars will be without Dilbar Hussain after a hamstring injury suffered in the win over Sydney Thunder ruled him out of the majority of the tournament, but with Nathan Coulter-Nile rested that should be a straight swap.

Marcus Stoinis is still working his way back to bowling fitness but he did look impressive with the bat so the Stars are in a strong position.

Perth Scorchers were hammered by the Renegades in their opener with their batting failing to fire, but with such a strong top order they are dangerous opponents for anyone.

Our Tips

Melbourne Stars to score over 52.5 runs – 6/4 @ Betway

With Stoinis getting the Stars off to a rapid start and Andre Fletcher producing a couple of eye-catching if not substantial cameos, the Stars clearly have a template to get off to rapid starts and if they get going, a total of 52.5 in the first six overs should be well within their reach.

Colin Munro to hit more than 2.5 fours – 6/5 @ Bet365

If there is one weakness in the Stars team, it is the new ball bowling attack. Glenn Maxwell tends to take the first over which should give Munro and Josh Inglis a chance to hit a couple of early boundaries, while Billy Stanlake is struggling for form and also offers opportunities to score.
