Match Preview
Melbourne Stars got off to a winning start with a comprehensive victory over Brisbane Heat on Friday, cruising to a six-wicket win without Marcus Stoinis even contributing.
They look in a good position dominate this season, but come up against a Sydney Thunder side who have been underdogs going into the tournament.
In Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales they have a powerful top order and with Daniel Sams in the bowling attack they could surprise a few teams, so the Stars won’t have it all their own way.
Our Tips
Sydney Thunder to score over 50.5 runs in the first six overs – 6/4 @ Betway
The opening duo of Khawaja and Hales shone last year and will again be the backbone of the Thunder side. Though both players tend to take a bit of time to get their eye in, they can be destructive when set and should help the Thunder get off to good starts in most matches.
Sydney Thunder to make the highest score in the first six overs – 11/10 @ Bet365
We are going big on that opening partnership, and with Stoinis failing for the Stars against the Heat and Andre Fletcher’s unpredictability it looks like good value.
