Melbourne Stars v Brisbane Heat
11/12/20, 08:15am (GMT), Manuka Oval
The much-fancied Melbourne Stars start their campaign at home against the Brisbane Heat with a strong squad to choose from.
Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa are available after international duty and all in great form while Billy Stanlake will want to lead the attack after his move from the Strikers.
While the Stars look in rude health, the Heat have suffered from withdrawals with Dan Lawrence their only available overseas player after Tom Banton pulled out and Mujeeb went down with COVID.
Chris Lynn has been in good form domestically but looks likely to have too much on his hands.
Glenn Maxwell to hit over 2.5 fours – 11/10 @ Betway
Maxwell might have struggled in the IPL but he has been in the form of his life since returning to Australia with scores of 45, 63*, 59, 2, 22 and 54 in the recent series against India.
He prefers to hit the ball over the rope but if he gets going as he has done recently, expect him to pepper the boundaries with regularity and shoot up the run-scoring charts.
Marcus Stoinis to score a fifty – 5/2 @Bet365
Stoinis had a stunning campaign last year for the Stars and topped 700 runs for the first time before continuing that form in the IPL and while it is unlikely he will reach such heights again, we think he could make a bright start against the Heat.
He has struggled against mystery spin but the absence of Mujeeb weakens the Heat’s attack significantly and he will fancy his chances.
