Melbourne Stars v Adelaide Strikers
Match Odds
MELBOURNE STARS – 7/10
v
ADELAIDE STRIKERS – 6/5
15/1/21, 08:15am (GMT), Melbourne
Match Preview
Back-to-back defeats – both of them comfortable – have left the Stars toiling away at the bottom of the ladder despite a promising start.
They were defeated by five wickets by the Strikers when the two teams met earlier in the season, and Glenn Maxwell’s side will be hoping a run of home matches might be enough to turn their form around along with the returning of Haris Rauf to strengthen their pace attack.
The batting, so often a hallmark of the Stars, has really struggled to fire this year aside from Glenn Maxwell and they need openers Marcus Stoinis and Andre Fletcher to provide a platform at the top.
The Strikers might have beaten the Stars and are well-placed in fourth, but Rashid Khan’s departure on international duty will be a huge blow to them.
Our Tips
The Adelaide Strikers to win – 6/5 @ Betway
Despite losing their best bowler, the Strikers will be very confident heading to Melbourne. Wes Agar has been a big success this season and Danny Briggs is more than capable of stepping into the void left by Rashid.
Marcus Stoinis to hit more than 2.5 fours – 1/1 @ Bet365
Stoinis is finally finding his best form with scores of 97*, 34 and 47 in his last three games. Returning to the MCG on a big ground will mean more boundaries and fewer sixes, so if he gets going he should pass this fairly easily.
