Kolkata Knight Riders v Kings XI Punjab
26/10/20, 2pm (GMT), Sharjah
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS – 4/5
KINGS XI PUNJAB – 1/1
As the IPL reaches the business end of the tournament, with just over a week left of matches, this match could potentially carry the most significance until the play-off games.
Kolkata Knight Riders grabbed a vital win on Saturday before Kings XI Punjab produced an incredible comeback in the day’s late game, meaning just two points separate KKR (4th place) from Kings XI and Rajasthan Royals (5th and 6th respectively), meaning a win for them would leave a four-point gap with just two games to play.
Kings XI are the form team with four wins on the bounce after rediscovering the knack of winning matches – their last defeat came against KKR – but a stunning performance from Eoin Morgan’s men against Delhi Capitals make this a mouth-watering tie with a lot riding on it.
Despite the form tables, KKR are favourites to all-but secure the play-off spot at 4/5 to win, with KXIP 1/1.
Chris Gayle to hit the most sixes – 9/2
The ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle has made some impact at Kings XI, winning all four games he has played in, and he could prove the difference in going for a fifth as well.
No normal ground is big enough for him, but Sharjah, with it’s small boundaries, already proved too small when he hit five sixes against RCB and he has the potential to go big again if he gets his eye in.
If you want a banker, bet on KL Rahul to score over 26.5 runs at 5/6, or even 13/8 for him to pass fifty, while Shubman Gill to hit more than 2.5 boundaries at 1/1 is also a good bet.
