Kings XI Punjab v Kolkata Knight Riders
10/10/20, 11am (BST), Abu Dhabi
WINNER
KINGS XI PUNJAB – 11/10
V
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS – 8/11
Match Preview
Four defeats on the bounce – the latest a heavy 69-run loss to Sunrisers – leave Kings XI Punjab adrift at the bottom on the table and in desperate need of a win if they are to salvage anything from this season.
Nicholas Pooran’s stunning half-century offered some encouragement but with Glenn Maxwell out of form, the lower order not contributing and the bowling attack leaking runs and not taking wickets, they look set to be this season’s whipping boys.
Kolkata Knight Riders are one of the teams loitering in the middle of the table hoping to put together a run that will see them establish themselves at the top, and after a convincing bowling display against CSK will be confident of doing so.
They will be desperate for more from Andre Russell but to keep winning without their star man is an ominous sign for the rest of the teams, and they are favourites here at 8/11 while KXIP are 11/10.
Our Prediction
Kolkata Knight Riders to hit over 6.5 sixes – 11/10
KKR possess arguably the most powerful middle-order in the competition with Eoin Morgan and Russell capable of clearing any boundary, while Rahul Tripathi and Pat Cummins can also hit the ball a long way.
They should find the Kings XI attack to their liking – while Sunil Narine will fancy the spinners – so we expect sixes galore, and at Evens we would also expect KKR to hit more boundaries in the game.
