Hobart Hurricanes v Sydney Sixers
10/12/20, 08:15am (GMT), Blundstone Arena
The 2020-21 Big Bash League kicks off with defending champions travelling to Tasmania to take on Hobart Hurricanes with question marks over their starting XI.
The effects of bubble life and touring have meant that Tom Curran, such an important player for the Sixers in the last two years, has pulled out of the tournament while Dawid Malan is stuck in quarantine for the start.
With Moises Henriques and Sean Abbott on Australia A duty, the Sixers looked severely depleted which looks set to hand the advantage to the Hurricanes who will be led by the in-form Matthew Wade (if available) and the dangerous D’Arcy Short.
Josh Philippe to hit over 2.5 boundaries – 1/1 @ Betway
Philippe had a breakthrough season last year that led to an IPL contract and international recognition following his dynamic performances at the top of the Sixers’ order, hitting 487 runs and five half-centuries at an average of 37.46.
He hit 41 boundaries in total in his 16 matches at a rate of one every 9.1 deliveries, and batting at the top of the order means he is well-placed to take advantage of the fielding restrictions.
Will Jacks to hit the most sixes – 7/1 @ Bet365
The Surrey all-rounder could be one of the surprise packages of this year’s competition. He currently averages about one six per domestic T20 game but a 25-ball hundred in pre-season earlier this year showed his ability to clear the ropes and this could be his chance to make a name for himself.
