WINNER
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS – 1/1
V
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE – 4/5
Match Preview
The battle of India’s two biggest stars in Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni sees a struggling Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in need of a performance to turn around their fortunes so far this season.
Remarkably they have chased in each of their six games so far and four times they have fallen short, which has raised questions over the gameplan with the middle order struggling to back up the platform laid by Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis, while their bowling attack remains as wily as ever and well-marshalled by their skipper.
RCB’s batting meanwhile has been inconsistent. They have registered scores of 109 and 137-9, but there are signs their big names are starting to find form – which is just as well considering the form of their bowlers.
RCB are favourites at 4/5 to win this one, with CSK 1/1 to claim the two points.
Our Prediction
Chennai Super Kings to win – 1/1
They have no hit their usual high standards so far in this tournament, but the margin of three of their defeats suggest they have not been far off in any of them, and at Evens they offer good value against a team with an expensive bowling attack and a top-heavy batting order.
Our other tip would be for Sam Curran to score below 32.5 runs. While the England all-rounder has had an excellent start to the tournament, his role with the bat is to keep his knocks short and sweet, rather than go on and build a substantial innings.
