Australia v India, 3rd Test
Match Odds
AUSTRALIA – 4/7
v
INDIA – 9/4
6/1/21, 11:30am (GMT), Sydney
Match Preview
The series hangs in the balance at 1-1 with two to play after Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a brilliant display in Melbourne that saw India thrash the hosts by eight wickets.
The touring bowlers dismissed Australia for just 195 and 200, but the third Test is likely to be completely different to what has gone before.
David Warner’s return will be a huge boost to Australia who have struggled at the top and with the tempo of their batting, while Will Pucovski is likely to make his debut alongside him after long being tipped for a Baggy Green, while India will also make changes with Navdeep Saini and Rohit Sharma coming into the side.
Warner loves batting on his home ground while Steve Smith also has a strong record in Sydney and will be hopeful of a return to form. If Warner and Pucovski provide a strong platform at the top, it could be a very different game to the Boxing Day Test.
Our Tips
David Warner to score over 50 in the first innings 6/4 @ Betway
Warner has made four centuries and two half-centuries in his last eight knocks at Sydney, and the only time he failed to pass 50 in his last six knocks, he was dismissed for 45. He was in good form before his injury and will be desperate to hit the ground running on his return.
Ajinkya Rahane to score a first innings fifty – 7/4 @ Bet365
Rahane had an extraordinary impact while standing in for Virat Kohli in Melbourne, with a match-winning century to go along with some inspirational captaincy. If he continues to be inspired by the leadership role, he will be pivotal to India’s first innings effort.
